Reader Question: “I know you said our tech stack should strengthen our businesses, but there are too many options; how do I know which software is right for me? or what I need?”

Trello, ClickUp, Asana, BaseCamp, Airtable…
MailChimp, FloDesk, Active Campaign…
Is anyone else’s head spinning?
There are so many options out there. So, how do you know which software will actually contribute to your success? How do you know your tech stack will pull its own weight?
Do you waste hours setting up each of them and trying them out until you find the right now for you? Or do you try one for a couple of months, grow tired of it, and then start all over? Maybe you let your systems strategist pick your software for you because that’s what they specialize in…
Let me just say: Don’t.
Please don’t put yourself through all that.
Each software has its own unique flair. Its own features. Its own user experience. By doing research upfront, you can find a lot of what you need to know before you ever even sign up for an account.
And if you need help deciding, send me over a quick email (using the form below), and I will happily do a detailed breakdown of any of this software. I’m in the business of saving you time and increasing your efficiency, after all. I would hate to think of you wasting it because you can’t find the information you need.
So, let’s take a quick look at the five things you need to know before choosing the right tech stack for your business:
5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING YOUR TECH STACK
Weekly High Five
1
Your Strengths
Make a list of the things you are great at. Are you a Spelling Bee champion? Then, you don’t really need Grammarly. (Although the free version won’t hurt) Graphic Design? Maybe, skip Canva Pro. You get the idea.
2
Your Weaknesses
We all have them, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Struggle with marketing consistency? 🙋♀️ Try Meet Edgar to schedule your Social Media. Procrastinate? Use ClickUp reminders and an early due date. Forget to email clients during onboarding? Automate it with HoneyBook.
4
Your Efficiency Style
Do “all the bells and whistles” distract you? Does an aesthetic platform inspire you? Does a Gantt Chart terrify you? Or do you prefer a pen and paper to a digital to-do list? Choose your Project Management tool wisely (even if that means you don’t choose one.)
5
Communication Needs
Communication is easily one of the most important aspects of a business. Whether it’s with your clients, your team, or collaborators, proper communication is essential. If Slack pings distract you from getting work done, use email instead. If things get lost in your inbox, try a shared drive.
Again, if you need help deciding which software is right for you, send me a quick email (using the form above), and I will happily do a detailed breakdown.
Got a question you need answered?
