Reader Question: “I can’t keep doing everything, but I don’t even know how to choose what to hand over. How do I choose what to delegate?”
We talk a LOT about automation over here at SRC, but what about those tasks that need somebody with a human touch (channeling my inner Spice Girl).
… And in the words of those infamous icons:
“Hey you, always on the run
Gotta slow it down baby, gotta have some fun”.
These tasks need to be completed, but you don’t have the time. However, they can’t be automated either. But you need an ever-loving break. Take it, and delegate the heck out of those pesky tasks.
The list of tasks you can delegate are endless but, who has that kind of money? I know I don’t.
So how do you decide what to delegate and what to tackle? “Stop, right there” and read the list below (okay, I’m done. I swear 😂).
5 Tasks to Delegate in Your Small Business
Weekly High Five
1
The Ones Not Worth Your Time
Your time has value. Like physical, tangible, billable value. For any tasks you complete; do the simple math. Multiply the time it took you to complete it by your hourly rate. Could you have paid someone less money to get it done? If the answer is yes, delegate it!
2
The Ones You Hate
Listen. Life is too short to be drudging through tasks you hate doing. If you can afford to delegate these tasks (and they can’t be automated), do it!
3
The Ones You Keep Putting Off
Who here had 13 blog posts sitting in a folder wasting away because she just didn’t want to or didn’t prioritize uploading them and creating graphics to promote them? 🙋♀️, Just me? If you have a task that haunts you, but you can’t seem to just get it done, delegate it. Trust me; it isn’t worth all that dread.
4
Tasks That Are Urgent But You Don’t Have The Time
When a task comes up with a deadline, and you just don’t have the time, or know-how, to complete it in time: Delegate it. Tax season is almost among us. Are you prepared? Have you found a CPA or are you prepared to tackle it alone?

Tasks That Aren’t Your Area Of Expertise
You are human. There will always be things you aren’t great at, or things you just aren’t sure how to do. What you can’t master after taking an online course; delegate it. Especially if it is a task that will ultimately affect your bottom line, think design or copywriting.
You wear many hats as an entrepreneur, but you don’t have to wear ALL The Hats! You don’t even have to hire employees. Most tasks can be contracted out on a project basis. Don’t be afraid to work with other entrepreneurs. There are some incredible talents out there, you just have to find the ones that work with/for you and your business.
